Our commitment
Specialty Plumbing wants this website to be usable by people of all abilities, including people who use screen readers, keyboard navigation, magnification or other assistive technology. We treat accessibility as an ongoing part of maintaining the site, not a one-time task.
Standard we aim for
Our goal is to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines explain how to make web content more accessible for people with a wide range of disabilities. We are working toward that goal and review pages as they are added or changed.
Measures we take
- Semantic HTML. Pages use real headings, landmarks, lists and buttons so assistive technology can describe the structure.
- Keyboard navigation. Menus, forms and interactive elements can be reached and used with a keyboard, with visible focus styles. A “Skip to main content” link is the first item on every page, and the Esc key closes open menus.
- Text alternatives. Meaningful images have descriptive alt text. Decorative images and icons have empty alt text or are hidden from screen readers.
- Color contrast. Text meets a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 (3:1 for large text), and links in running text are underlined so color is not the only way they are shown.
- Moving content. A “Pause animations” button, in the top bar, the footer and next to moving sections, stops every animation and the review slider. Your choice is remembered. Animations start paused if your device is set to prefer reduced motion.
- Forms. Every form field has a visible label, required fields are marked, and error messages explain what to fix. Errors are linked to their field and announced to screen readers.
- Touch targets. Buttons and stand-alone links are at least 44 × 44 pixels on touch screens.
- Responsive layout. Pages adapt to small screens, either orientation and browser zoom up to 400% without losing content. Pinch-to-zoom is never disabled.
- Media and documents. The site has no video, audio or PDF downloads today. Any we add will have captions or transcripts, and PDFs will be tagged for screen readers.
Known limitations
Some content comes from third parties and is outside our direct control:
- Embedded maps. The Google Map on some pages may not be fully accessible to every screen reader or keyboard user. Our full address is always provided as text next to the map, with a link to open directions.
- Uploaded documents. Files shared with us, such as plans, may not be accessible. This does not affect your ability to use the site.
